Public key (assymetric) cryptography: Uses two keys, the private key and the public key. The public key is used to encrypt objects, and to verify digital signatures. The private key is used to to decrypt and sign objects, and is typically kept secret by one or more key holders. Allows key distribution without exposing the key.
